It took almost nine months to get from idea to product. Two weeks ago it was finally time to show the Vegua (prototype) for the first time at the Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven. Nine days and about 40 locations where people can catch a glimpse of the latest trends concerning Dutch design products. We were really excited about it and curious how people feel and would react on the Vegua.
We managed to arrange a beautiful location, called S-clusiv in the Videolab building on Strijp-S. Lots of industrial design and sleek furniture, the perfect location for showing the Vegua. Aiming to show as many people how the Vegua works and which plants can be grown in it, we decided to put herbs like thyme, parsley, coriander, lovage, weed grass and chamomile in the planter. After testing the Vegua with herbs a couple of times, it is still incredible to see how fast these plants grow! Every day the weed grass grew about a centimeter. You can imagine how the plants must have looked after nine days, already pretty big.
The Vegua caught the eyes of many internationals. Students, businesspeople, families with children, elderly and so on. Reactions that we received were very positive. The audience was sincerely interested and happy with the sleek design and way of producing food with help of aquaponics. Some people even expressed their ideas on the product and hope that many more products like the Vegua will follow soon.
In our opinion, the Vegua is a great product to have at home in a kitchen or living room. It was nice to see that so many people think the same and cannot wait to have the Vegua at home!
